HOOVER BUILDING

7in high, 8.5in wide, 2in deep & 4.6lb approximately.

The Hoover Buildings have long been heralded as a monument to the art deco movement. The Hoover Buildings, designed by Wallis, Gilbert and Partners, are magnificent and a real advertisment for the Hoover company. The beautiful facades were a revolution in the 1930's and the use of colour was especially bold with the light green window frames making the buildings unmistakable.

Chisel & Mouse have produced an architectural sculpture of "Building No.7". It was the last to be constructed and operated as the staff canteen and recreation centre.

Each of our architectural sculptures is handmade in our studio in Sussex, England. They are made of strong plaster that has a reassuring weight and smooth, cool feel. The window frames are made of etched brass. Stylish ornaments, gifts or presents that look fabulous on a desk, shelf or wall.

Address: Western Avenue, London, UB6 8BW, England.

BUCKINGHAM PALACE

10in high, 7in wide, 2in deep & 4.5lb approximately.

Buckingham Palace, in London, is the official residence of the British monarch. On many occasions it has been a focal point for the British people at times of national rejoicing and crisis. The original Buckingham House forms the core of today's palace and was built for the Duke of Buckingham in 1705. It passed into Royal ownership in the 18th century and became the official residence of the British monarch in 1837.

Buckingham Palace has undergone major structural changes with the East Front being added in the early 19th century. Our architectural sculpture is of the central portion of the East Front and contains the balcony from which the Royal Family acknowledges the crowds on momentous occasions and annually after Trooping the Colour.

FLATIRON BUILDING (M)

8in high, 5in wide, 2.5in deep & 3lb approximately.

The Flatiron was designed by Daniel Burnham, a founder of the 'Chicago School' style of architecture. Completed in 1902 the building was built using a unique steel skeleton which became the prototype for many skyscrapers that followed.

The building was not initially greeted with public acclaim, but soon became a symbol of New York and is considered the nation's first true skyscraper. Its distinctive clothes 'iron' shape gives the building its name. Built at the intersection of Broadway and Fifth Avenue, the 'Architectural Record' suggested the building "resembled a ship sailing up the Avenue."

The Flatiron has become one of New York's must see tourist attractions - a true city icon. Chisel & Mouse have modelled the building in its entirety, enabling you to view the sculpture from each of its unique angles.

ROME CITYSCAPE WITH BLUE WATER (S)
ROME CITYSCAPE WITH BLUE WATER (S)

13in high, 13in wide, 2in deep & 7lb approximately.

Rome grew from pastoral settlements on the south side of the Tiber where it forms a Z-shaped curve that contains an island where the river can be forded. Because of the river and the ford, Rome was at a crossroads of traffic following the river valley and of traders traveling north and south on the west side of the peninsula. The population grew to an estimated 310,000 people by the 3rd century BC. Rome gained dominance over the Mediterranean and the Roman Empire was established under Octavian in 27 BC. The city of Rome now surpassed a population of one million. After the collapse of the Western Roman Empire, Rome entered a long period of decline. During the medieval period, with the associated lack of construction activity, assured the survival of very significant ancient Roman material remains in the centre of the city. Rome was once the world's main epicentre of classical architecture, developing new forms such as the arch, the dome and the vault. Later the city became one of the main centres of Renaissance and Baroque architecture. Rome's cityscape is also widely Neoclassical and Fascist in style.

This 3d map of Rome, at a scale of 1:5000, is centred on the area just east of the Z-shaped curve in the Tiber. It is a single resin tile measuring 30x30cm encapsulated in an oak frame. Completed with metal etched blue water. The model can wall hang or be displayed on a desk or table top.
