LE CORBUSIER
Le Corbusier, born as Charles-Edouard Jeanneret-Gris, was a Swiss-French architect, designer, painter, urban planner, and writer who is widely regarded as one of the most influential architects of the 20th century. He was born in Switzerland in 1887 and studied architecture in his early years before moving to Paris in 1917 to launch his architectural practice.
Le Corbusier's architectural style was characterized by the use of modern materials, such as concrete and steel, and a focus on functionality and simplicity in design. He believed that architecture should respond to the needs of society and improve the quality of life for people. His work often featured bold geometric forms and open, flexible spaces that could be adapted to different uses.
In addition to his architectural work, Le Corbusier was also known for his urban planning ideas, which were centred around the concept of the "Radiant City" - a vision of modern, functional cities that were designed for efficiency and human comfort.
Le Corbusier's influence on architecture and design can still be seen today, with many architects and designers continuing to draw inspiration from his work. He passed away in 1965, but his legacy continues to inspire and influence the field of architecture.
OUR MODELS...
NOTRE-DAME DU HAUT
5in high, 8in wide, 4.5in deep & 3lb approximately.
Chapelle Notre Dame du Haut was designed by the legendary architect Le Corbusier. It was built in 1955 and serves as a Roman Catholic chapel. It is located in Ronchamp.
The building is spectacular with a sculptural expressive style. The curved roof is of particular note, it has been described as "peeling up towards the heavens". Also of note are the irregular walls and the sporadic placement of the windows.
Once inside light and sound take centre stage - flooding the chapel and giving visitors a unique religious experience.
We have modelled three sides of this wonderful building.

Le Corbusier's 20th century modernist masterpiece Villa Savoye was completed in 1929. It is regarded as his finest work and the refinement of his own architectural style. His guiding vision was to create a "machine for living in" and he succeeded.
Situated in Poissy, on the outskirts of Paris, Le Corbusier's take on a French country house was designed as a retreat for the Savoye family. The house is functional yet stylish. With its pilotis, open plan interiors, flat roofed terrace and strips of generous windows - the house represents a revolution in modern living.
The house was refurbished between 1985 and 1997 and is one of the 17 projects by Le Corbusier that have been added to UNESCO's World Heritage List.
