During the Middle Ages Paris was the largest city in Europe. It was, and still is, a religious, commercial, cultural and intellectual centre. However, by the start of the 18th century, though it could be said to have some beautiful buildings, it was not a beautiful city. Napoleon III engaged Georges-Eugène Haussmann in 1852 to unify the city and to make it more beautiful. The street plan and distinctive appearance of the centre of Paris today is largely the result of Haussmann's renovation. The brilliance of Haussmann’s vision is best seen at Place Charles de Gaulle, the location of the Arc de Triomphe, with 12 boulevards branching out into the city in a radial pattern.
This 3d map of Paris, at a scale of 1:5000, is centred on the Arc de Triomphe. It is a single plaster tile measuring 30x30cm encapsulated in an oak frame. The model can wall hang or be displayed on a desk or table top.

Battersea Power Station, built in 1933, had been crumbling away since shutting down over 20 years ago, but is now once more resplendent after restoration. This building, with its instantly recognisable chimneys, is a true London landmark and worthy of the term 'iconic'.
Our architectural sculpture of Battersea Power Station's Northern Chimneys is striking. It displays the beauty and function that Sir Giles Gilbert Scott was so famous for and is the perfect example of mantelpiece art.
Each of our architectural sculptures is handmade in our studio in Sussex, England. They are made of strong plaster that has a reassuring weight and smooth, cool feel. Stylish ornaments, gifts or presents that are handmade in Britain and look fabulous on a desk, shelf or wall.

Amsterdam has its origins in the 12th century when locals built a dam over the river Amstel leading to the village being named "Aemstelredamme". In the Middle Ages, Amsterdam was surrounded by a moat, called the Singel, which now forms the innermost ring in the city, and makes the city centre a horseshoe shape. The canal system was heavily developed in the early 17th century, considered the city's Golden Age, to accommodate large scale immigration. Four concentric half-circles of canals with their ends emerging at the IJ bay were constructed. Amsterdam is now home to more than one hundred kilometres of canals. It is thought that the considerations of the layout were purely practical and defensive rather than ornamental. The layout of the inner city canal ring was inscribed on the World Heritage List by Unesco in 2010.
This 3d map of Amsterdam, at a scale of 1:5000, is centred on the Royal Palace and includes the Singel, Prinsengracht, Herengracht and Keizersgracht. It is a single resin tile measuring 30x30cm encapsulated in an oak frame. Completed with metal etched blue water. The model can wall hang or be displayed on a desk or table top.

The Chicago area was initially inhabited by Algonquian peoples, including the Mascouten and Miami. The name "Chicago" is the French version of the Miami-Illinois word shikaakwa("Stinky Onion"), named for the plants common along the Chicago River. The first settler in Chicago was Jean Baptiste Point du Sable who built a farm at the mouth of the Chicago River in the 1780s. In 1829, the Illinois legislature appointed commissioners to locate a canal and lay out the surrounding town, which at the time had a population of less that 100. After 1830, the rich farmlands of northern Illinois attracted Yankee settlers. Real estate operators created a city overnight. The city was built in a low-lying area subject to flooding. In 1856 the city council decided that the entire city should be elevated four to five feet by using a newly available jacking-up process. Between 1870 and 1900 Chicago grew from a city of 299,000 to nearly 1.7 million, at the time the fastest-growing city ever. In 1871, most of the city burned in the Great Chicago Fire. Developers and citizens began immediate reconstruction on the existing Jeffersonian grid. The building boom that followed saved the city's status as the transportation and trade hub of the Midwest. Massive reconstruction using the newest materials and methods catapulted Chicago into its status as a city on par with New York. It became the birthplace of modern architecture in the United States. The architecture of Chicago has influenced and reflected the history of American architecture. It features prominent buildings in a variety of styles by many important architects. Since most buildings within the downtown area were destroyed by the Fire, Chicago buildings are noted for their originality rather than their antiquity.
