BUCKINGHAM PALACE

10in high, 7in wide, 2in deep & 4.5lb approximately.

Buckingham Palace, in London, is the official residence of the British monarch. On many occasions it has been a focal point for the British people at times of national rejoicing and crisis. The original Buckingham House forms the core of today's palace and was built for the Duke of Buckingham in 1705. It passed into Royal ownership in the 18th century and became the official residence of the British monarch in 1837.

Buckingham Palace has undergone major structural changes with the East Front being added in the early 19th century. Our architectural sculpture is of the central portion of the East Front and contains the balcony from which the Royal Family acknowledges the crowds on momentous occasions and annually after Trooping the Colour.

Each of our architectural sculptures is handmade in our studio in Sussex, England. They are made of strong plaster that has a reassuring weight and smooth, cool feel. The window frames are made of etched brass. Stylish ornaments, gifts or presents that are handmade in Britain and look fabulous on a desk, shelf or wall.

Address: Buckingham Palace, London, SW1A 1AA, England.

PARIS CITYSCAPE (S)
PARIS CITYSCAPE (S)

13in high, 13in wide, 2in deep & 7lb approximately.

During the Middle Ages Paris was the largest city in Europe. It was, and still is, a religious, commercial, cultural and intellectual centre. However, by the start of the 18th century, though it could be said to have some beautiful buildings, it was not a beautiful city. Napoleon III engaged Georges-Eugène Haussmann in 1852 to unify the city and to make it more beautiful. The street plan and distinctive appearance of the centre of Paris today is largely the result of Haussmann's renovation. The brilliance of Haussmann’s vision is best seen at Place Charles de Gaulle, the location of the Arc de Triomphe, with 12 boulevards branching out into the city in a radial pattern.

This 3d map of Paris, at a scale of 1:5000, is centred on the Arc de Triomphe. It is a single plaster tile measuring 30x30cm encapsulated in an oak frame. The model can wall hang or be displayed on a desk or table top.

SOMERSET HOUSE

6in high, 4.8in wide, 3in deep & 3.5lb approximately.

Somerset House is a large Neoclassical building situated between The Strand and the River Thames. The building, originally the site of a Tudor palace, was designed by Sir William Chambers in 1776, and further extended with Victorian wings to the north and south. The building housed various learned societies, including the Royal Academy of Arts, which Chambers was instrumental in founding, and the Royal Society and Society of Antiquaries.

The main government department in the early days was the Admiralty, leading to the legend thatNelson worked in the building for a time. In 1837 the Registrar General of Births, Marriages and Deaths set up his office in the North Wing, establishing a connection that lasted for almost 150 years.

Today, The Courtauld Institute of Art occupies the North Wing, whilst the East Wing forms part of the adjacent King's College London. During the summer months 55 fountains dance in the courtyard, and in winter you can skate on London's favourite ice rink. Somerset House also hosts open-air concerts and films, contemporary art and design exhibitions

The architectural model is of the central section of Somerset House viewed from the courtyard.
